Theft and Shoplifting Program

The Theft and Shoplifting Program is an evidence-based program designed to help individuals recognize harmful thinking patterns and behaviors that contribute to retail and other forms of theft. Through a combination of cognitive restructuring tools, guided exercises, and reflective learning, participants gain practical skills to make positive decisions, develop a pro-social mindset, and understand the impact of their actions on themselves and society.

Admission Criteria

Age: Adolescents or Adults
Sex: Male or Female                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Participation: Individuals seeking to address theft-related behaviors and develop positive decision-making skills

 

Program Structure

The course is delivered in three flexible formats to meet diverse client needs:

1. Self-Directed Learning

  • Coursework completed independently with guidance from a facilitator

  • Focuses on cognitive restructuring, skill-building exercises, and self-reflection

2. Group Learning

  • Small groups of 3-4 participants guided by a facilitator

  • Includes collaborative assignments, open discussion, and role-playing exercises 

3. Hybrid Learning

  • Combines self-directed learning with group instruction

  • Delivered either in-person or via Zoom

    Coursework Includes:

    • 650-slide eLearning module

    • Self-assessments and knowledge checks

    • Scenario-based learning

    • Application and skill-building exercises

    • Self-reflection activities

    • Roleplaying and counselor-led discussions

    • Focused journaling

    Course Length:

    • Typically 6-8 sessions, one hour each, depending on participant needs
